D.D. Eliseev, Koreiskaya srednevekovaya literatura "p'aesôT [The Korean Literature, p'aesôl, (Problems of its Origin and Genre)]. Moscow, Nauka, 1 968, I35p.

P'aesôl ($$!£) is a form of Korean traditional prose which was popular in the I2th-17th centuries. These literary works circulated as collections of short stories. P'aesôl is a combination of different genres, including fictional and non-fictional works. The fictional genre includes short novels, anecdotes, and essays. Among the non-fictional works one finds news stories and sketches. This kind of prose developed in connection with folktales and historical literature. Many of the heroes of p'aesôl are historical persons, while the plots are borrowed from folk-tales. This book, devoted to research on p'aesôl, is illustrated by a large number of translations from p'aesôl collections.
