The advantages of multisited fieldwork to observe « social relations of sex ». The case of the collective action among Brazilian migrants in Japan
Based on fieldwork on the collective action of Brazilian migrants in Japan, this paper aims at stressing the advantages of a multisited method to capture social relations of sex. The method uses the contextualization of the national and sector-based dimensions as a starting point to link the observation of categorizations of sex with three fields of mobilization: Brazilian schools, workers unions and grassroots organizations. From the theory of intersectionality, the method enables us to analyze how the social relations of sex are realized in each fieldwork.
