Turismo académico: um estudo sobre os estudantes Erasmus na Universidade de Aveiro

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como principais objetivos analisar o conceito de turismo académico, que, inserido dentro da esfera do turismo educacional, diz respeito aos estudantes que se deslocam para um país estrangeiro, por um tempo inferior a um ano, com o intuito de realizar um período de estudos reconhecido academicamente. Assim, o Programa Erasmus surge como foco natural deste estudo, sendo analisado tanto ao nível europeu, como a nível nacional. Em relação ao trabalho empírico realizou-se um estudo com o objetivo de conhecer o perfil dos estudantes Erasmus na Universidade de Aveiro, para saber de que forma utilizam os recursos turísticos ao longo da sua estadia, se recomendam o destino e se regressam. Para tal, foi aplicado um inquérito por questionário a estudantes que realizaram o seu período de mobilidade Erasmus na Universidade de Aveiro entre 2006 e 2012. Concluiuse que estes estudantes sentem-se, na sua grande maioria, satisfeitos e recomendam a Universidade de Aveiro como destino Erasmus. Da amostra estudada, 48,9% já voltou a Portugal após terminado o programa. A perceção e experiência positivas sentidas pelos estudantes Erasmus é naturalmente enriquecedora para a Universidade de Aveiro, permitindo a captação crescente de estudantes internacionais, tendo consequentemente uma importância económica e cultural de grande impacte na cidade, por extravasamento natural do seu campus.

This work has as main objectives to analyze the concept of academic tourism, which, within the concept of educational travel, concerns the students who go to a foreign country, for a period lower than a year, with the aim of having a period of studies officially recognized. For this reason, the Erasmus Program is the main focus of this study, being analyzed on the European level and on the national level. Empirically, it was made a study with the objective of knowing the profile of Erasmus students in Aveiro, mainly in the matter of how they use tourist resources during their mobility, if they recommend the destination and if they return to Portugal. To achieve this goal, it was applied a questionnaire to former students that did their Erasmus Program in the University of Aveiro between 2006 and 2012. It was concluded that these students feel very satisfied with their experience and they recommend the University of Aveiro as an Erasmus destination. Also, 48.9% of the respondents had already returned to Portugal after the end of their mobility. The positive perception and experience felt by the former Erasmus students is naturally enriching also for the University of Aveiro, allowing a growing attraction of international students, which consequently have an important economic and cultural impact in the city.
