de controlo e de apoio à condução; tecnologias mais simples e intuitivas;
abordagem multidisciplinar do Design: forma, função, conforto, ergonomia,
As
This paper discusses the main constraints and/or limitations associated with the use of the automobile by senior drivers, pointing out solutions for Inclusive Design. The senior population needs automobiles adjusted to the physical and cognitive limitations resulting from the natural aging process and/or other causes, which affect driving ability. Throughout this work, aspects of improvement in the interior design of automobiles are identified and justified, focusing on the physical interfaces with the senior driver, namely: instrument panels; control and driving support devices; simpler and more intuitive technologies; front seats and safety devices, adjusted to the shape and physical condition, aiming to improve the inclusion and comfort of older users, to be considered in the design of future automobiles generation. The work focuses on design and comfort, anthropometry, and ergonomics of the physical interfaces with the driver, while analysing how the simplification and incorporation of technologies can influence the driving experience. The paper analyzes the physical interfaces with the senior driver in a multidisciplinary approach to Design: such as shape, function, comfort, ergonomics, safety and human anthropomorphology, while analyze the simplification and incorporation of technologies in mitigation of limitations of normal aging and its influence on driving experience at the physical, cognitive and psychological level. The next generation of vehicles will be powered by electricity and designed to operate in densely populated urban centres where sustainability and respect for the environment will predominate. The paradigm shifts of this mode of mobility will bring new opportunities and challenges to automobiles design and its interior design, identifying new forms of human-machine relationship that may benefit older users. |
