The present study, with a multidisciplinary aspect, is based in the field of cultural studies. Its main objective was to investigate the reciprocal social representations of lusophony and identity among Brazilian and Portuguese students, regularly enrolled in the masters or doctorate, in the Universities of Aveiro, Coimbra and Minho. To reach this goal, a theoretical framework was outlined and an empirical investigation anchored in a qualitative methodology which, through content analysis of the questionnaire and of the focus group, sought to answer the following questions: What are the reciprocal social representations of Lusophony and identities of Brazilian and Portuguese students of Portuguese higher education? How can the debate on Lusophony contribute to the development and enhancement of relations between Brazilian and Portuguese students in the construction of a common Lusophone space? Both questions enabled us to reflect and critically discuss the issue of interculturality, migration and cultural interrelations in the era of globalization. The thesis, now proposed, is divided into two parts: theoretical and epistemological foundation, and empirical study. Indeed, we sought to know the reciprocal perceptions of the above-mentioned target audience, giving visibility to social representations and stereotypes so that they could be questioned and discussed. At the same time, we also analysed the potentialities and difficulties of a socio-cultural nature that permeate the interrelationships of these students in the Lusophone context. |
