The paper primarily presents critical remarks on the paper published by Brožová et al. (2022). Their new conclusions on the phylogeny and taxonomy of the Cyperaceae are shown as false. A totally new picture of the phylogeny and taxonomy of the Juncaceae seems to be premature, the taxonomic solutions at the level of genus are doubtful, and the nomenclature adopted is in several cases in a serious conflict with the ICN.
