Formation Kinetics, Morphology and Magnetic Properties of BaHF Ceramics Synthesized in x wtNaCl- (100-x) wt KCl Molten Salts
Kaya, Seray; Aydoğan Güngör, Eda; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi (2013-06-19)
Micron size barium hexaferrite (BaHF, BaFe12O19) platelets were prepared by molten-salt synthesis method in various weight proportions of NaCl-KCl salt mixtures as the liquid medium. The effects of calcination temperature and molten salt composition –x wt% NaCl and (100-x) wt% KCl-on the formation kinetics and amount of BaHF phase formation as well as on the morphology and magnetic properties of the final products have been discussed. Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS) was used to determi...
Formation and Characterization of Sub-Micron Inert Particle Embedded Nickel Composite Coatings
Yılmaz Tüzün, Özgül; Karakaya, İshak (2017-06-01)
Composite coatings have a wide range of application areas requiring improved mechanical and tribological properties. Due to its enhanced properties, Ni-Al2O3 electro-co-deposition rather than pure Ni electrodeposition was investigated. A typical sulfamate bath was used to evaluate the effects of current density on hardness and the amount of deposited Al2O3. It was found that increase in current density increases the hardness and deposited wt.% Al2O3 particles within the parameter ranges covered in this stud...
Formation and characterization of infrared absorbing copper oxide surfaces
Arslan, Burcu; Erdogan, Metehan; Karakaya, İshak (2017-04-30)
Copper oxide formation has been investigated to combine the advantages of producing different size and shapes of coatings that possess good light absorbing properties. An aqueous blackening solution was investigated and optimum composition was found as 2.5 M NaOH and 0.225 M NaClO to form velvet copper oxide films. A two-step oxidation mechanism was proposed for the blackening process by carefully examining the experimental results. Formation of Cu2O was observed until the entire copper surface was covered ...
Formation of TiB2 by volume combustion and mechanochemical process
Bilgi, Eda; ÇAMURLU, HASAN ERDEM; Akgun, Baris; Topkaya, Yavuz Ali; SEVİNÇ, NACİ (Elsevier BV, 2008-04-01)
Titanium diboride was produced both by volume combustion synthesis (VCS) and by mechanochemical synthesis (MCP) through the reaction of TiO2, B2O3 and Mg. VCS products, expected to be composed of TiB2 and MgO, were found to contain also side products such as Mg2TiO4, Mg3B2O6, MgB2 and TiN. HCl leaching was applied to the reaction products with the objective of removing MgO and the side products. Formation of TiN could be prevented by conducting the VCS under an argon atmosphere. Mg2TiO4 did not form when 40...
Formation of chlorination by-products. in waters with low SUVA-correlations with SUVA and differential UV spectroscopy
Ates, Nuray; Kitis, Mehmet; Yetiş, Ülkü (2007-10-01)
The formation of THMs and HAAs after chlorination of bulk water fractions of low-SUVA (specific UV absorbance) surface waters was investigated, and the applicability of SUVA and differential UV spectroscopy for monitoring THMs and HAAs in such waters was evaluated. Samples from two reservoirs were fractionated employing XAD-8, XAD-4, MIEX (R) resin and granular activated carbon adsorption. A total of 83 bulk water NOM fractions (i.e., the remaining solutions after contact with the adsorbent or resin at vari...
