Clay concentration and heating rate effect on crude oil combustion by thermogravimetry
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (2012-04-01)
In this research, the effect of heating rate and different clay concentrations on heavy oil combustion was investigated by thermogravimetry (TG-DTG). In TG-DTG experiments, two main distinct reaction regions were identified in all of the crude oil + limestone mixtures; known as low temperature oxidation (LTO) and high temperature oxidation (HTO) respectively. It was observed that addition of clay to porous matrix (limestone + heavy oil) significantly affected the thermal characteristics and kinetics of crud...

Foam characterization using image processing techniques
Ozbayoglu, E.m.; Akın, Serhat; Eren, T. (null; 2005-07-28)
Foam has been used in petroleum industry as a fracturing fluid and a drilling circulation fluid for many years. Proper determination of volumetric requirements for gas and liquid phase of foam during drilling and fracturing applications is directly related with an accurate foam characterization. It has been observed that, bubble size and texture of foam has an influence on foam rheology, however, no mathematical description has been introduced for their effect. The idea behind conducting this study is to ge...
