Monitoring durability of new concrete bridge decks
Aktan, Haluk M.; Yaman, İsmail Özgür; Staton, John F. (2001-08-03)
The ND durability monitoring procedure, which measures the soundness of field concrete, is based on the fundamental relationship between ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) and permeability of an elastic medium. An experimental study documented adequate sensitivity between UPV and concrete permeability. The durability monitoring procedure is based on a parameter developed as part of this study and called paste quality loss (PQL) which is computed from the probability density function parameters of ultrasonic pu...
Analyses of human-bear conflict in Yusufeli, Artvin, Turkey
Ambarlı, Hüseyin; Bilgin, Cemal Can; Department of Biology (2006)
Increasing levels of conflict between brown bears and rural people have been reported for Yusufeli (Artvin, Turkey). The study was conducted within landscapes at different scales, ranging from a core area defined by a large valley system to the whole of Artvin Province. Data on close encounters, injuries an...
Measuring Organizational Stressors and Individual Reactions
Bilgiç, Reyhan (2018-12-01)
This study is undertaken to create a generic work stress scale (WSS) and a stress reaction scale (SRS) in Turkey. Additionally, the buffering hypothesis of job satisfaction between work related stressors and stress reactions is tested. Factor analysis of the WSS based on 222 participants coming from the different work places in Ankara show that five-factor solution is the most adequate one. The factors are “expected and unexpected work overload”, “negative organisational climate”, “perceived lack of autono...
