New Pulse Shapes for CPM Signals
Doyuran, Enis; Tanık, Yalçın (2006-05-10)
A study on finding new pulse shapes for binary CPM (Continuous Phase Modulation) signals to achieve better spectral and detection performance is carried out. Under the constraint that the power spectral density stays below the GSM spectral envelope, pulse shape is optimized to minimize the error probability. Polynomials are utilized in representing pulse shapes. The performance depends on the degree of the polynomials and the pulse length (L). With 8(th) degree polynomials having 4 free parameters, optimiza...
Development of cast and heat treated 7075 alloy rifle receiver
Güngör, Ahmet Umur; Kalkanlı, Ali; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2015)
Developing technology in the world makes products lighter and have higher strength values. That’s why, aluminum and titanium alloys start to be used instead of steel. It can be seen that 7075 aluminum alloy is one of the highest strength amongst the aluminum alloys. This alloy has a close tensile strength value to some steels, with help of the heat treatment applications and developing production technologies. Generally, industrial usage of 7075 alloy is machining of 7075 alloy extrusion slab into desired s...
A High Performance PWM Algorithm for Common Mode Voltage Reduction in Three-phase Voltage Source Inverters
Uen, Emre; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2008-06-19)
A high performance PWM algorithm with reduced common mode voltage (CMV) and satisfactory overall performance is proposed for three-phase PWM inverter drives. The algorithm combines the near state PWM (NSPWM) method which has superior overall performance characteristics at high modulation index and MAZSPWM, a modified form of the active zero state PWM method (AZSPWM1), which is suitable for low modulation index range of operation. Since AZSPWM1 has line-to-line voltage pulse reversals with small zero-voltage...
Improvements in DOA estimation by array interpolation in non-uniform linear arrays
Yaşar, Temel Kaya; Tuncer, Temel Engin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2006)
In this thesis a new approach is proposed for non-uniform linear arrays (NLA) which employs conventional subspace methods to improve the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation performance. Uniform linear arrays (ULA) are composed of evenly spaced sensor elements located on a straight line. ULA's covariance matrix have a Vandermonde matrix structure, which is required by fast subspace DOA estimation algorithms. NLA differ from ULA only by some missing sensor elements. These missing elements cause some gaps in...
Investigation of modular multilevel converter control methods
Ertürk, Feyzullah; Hava, Ahmet Masum; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2015)
The thesis focuses on the analysis and control of modular multilevel converter (MMC). The control structures used in the control of MMC are presented. Outer control loops of the converter such as output current, DC-link voltage, and power controls as well as inner control structures unique to the converter such as circulating current control and sorting algorithm based submodule voltage balancing are investigated. In addition, switching methods proposed for MMC are also described. These control and switchin...
