Subsurface Silicon Processing by Microsphere Focusing of Ultrafast Infrared Laser
İdikut, Fırat; Seyedpour, S. Esmaeilzad; Bek, Alpan (2019-01-01)
Attention on applications of femtosecond lasers in semiconductor materials processing is ever growing. There has been an increasing research momentum especially towards multi-photon absorption based silicon (Si) processing with infrared lasers in the last decade. Since Si is transparent at wavelengths >1.1 mu m, the processing inside Si is triggered by the nonlinear optical phenomenon of two or more photon absorption which requires laser amplitude to reach and pass beyond threshold conditions. A method that...
Dispersion of long waves on varying bathymetry
Kian, Rozita; Yalçıner, Ahmet Cevdet; Zaytsev, Andrey (null; 2014-01-01)
Coastal dynamics of swell and long waves is important for morphological changes, near shore circulation, wave amplification, transport of sediments and pollutants, and also comfort of the boats in harbors and bays. There are different models computing near shore behavior of long waves and tsunamis under different input wave and bathymetric and morphological conditions. NAMI DANCE (developed in collaboration with METU, Turkey and Special Bureau of Automation of Research Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia) a...
Supersymmetry with heavy scalars at the LHC
Sekmen, Sezen; Zeyrek, Mehmet Tevfik; Department of Physics (2009)
We consider three distinct categories of supersymmetric scenarios with heavy scalars and light gauginos. First, we investigate the SO(10) SUSY GUTs, and locate MSSM parameter space regions that satisfy GUT scale Yukawa unification, which is a distinct feature of these models. Then taking example SO(10) cases, we perform a Monte Carlo study with toy detector simulation at 14 TeV at the LHC on the no $\met$ leptonic channels 2,3 leptons + $\ge$4 jets and show that discovery is possible with $\sim$1 fb$^{-1}$ ...
Subsurface structure of the central Thrace basin from 3d seismic reflection data
Taikulakov, Yerlan; Özacar, Atilla Arda; Kaymakcı, Nuretdin; Department of Geological Engineering (2011)
The Thrace Basin located in northwest Turkey displays attractive prospective traps for hydrocarbon and has received much attention from the petroleum industry. Despite the extensive exploration efforts, there are only few studies which address the fault kinematics and deformation mechanism of the region in connection with structural development. In this study, 3D raw seismic data set collected around Temrez High near Babaeski fault zone will be processed and interpreted along with the available borehole dat...
Compressive Photon-Sieve Spectral Imaging
Kar, Oguzhan Fatih; Kamaci, Ulas; Akyon, Fatih; Öktem, Sevinç Figen (2018-06-25)
We develop a new compressive spectral imaging modality that utilizes a coded aperture and a photon-sieve for dispersion. The 3D spectral data cube is successfully reconstructed with as little as two shots using sparse recovery
