Assessment of reservoir rock and fluid data for Black Oil Simulation – a case study
Susuz, Onur; Parlaktuna, Mahmut; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2009)
Reservoir simulation studies are one of the key tools in an integrated reservoir management study. A successful reservoir simulation application requires representative input data for reservoir rock and fluid properties. This study aims to develop a road map from laboratory measurements to the input data file of reservoir simulation and to make a probabilistic approach for the estimation of unknown parameters. Raw data of reservoir rock and fluid properties of a selected oil field of Turkey will be interpre...
Study of modeling of water saturation in archie and non-archie porous media
Dalkhaa, Chantsalmaa; Okandan, Ender; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2005)
The aim of this thesis is to study water saturation models available in the literature and to apply a proper one to a real field case. Archie equation is the most well-known water saturation model. However, it is formulated on some assumptions and is applicable to only clean sands. Archie equation cannot be used for shaly formation. There are many shaly water saturation models that account for shale effect for water saturation estimation. In this study, 3 wells, namely Well-01, Well-02 and Well-03 are studi...
Investigation Of Warrant Types Of Arguments Of Prospective Teachers In Technology Enriched Environment
Erkek, Özlem; Işıksal Bostan, Mine (2019-09-26)
In recent years, various methods have been put forward for the contribution and dissemination of learningenvironments in which students actively share their thoughts and discuss. One of these methods is argumentationwhich was claimed to improve individual’s higher order thinking, critical thinking and meta-cognitive skills. The aimof the present study was to investigate the argumentation of prospective middle school mathematics teachers intechnology environment. A qualitative case study was conducted with e...
Competition between electronic Kerr and free-carrier effects in an ultimate-fast optically switched semiconductor microcavity
Yüce, Emre; CLAUDON, Julien; DUPUY, Emmanuel; Boller, Klaus J.; GÉRARD, Jean-Michel; Vos, Willem L. (2012-09-01)
We have performed ultra fast pump-probe experiments on a GaAs-AlAs microcavity with a resonance near 1300 nm in the "Original" telecom band. We concentrate on ultimate-fast optical switching of the cavity resonance that is measured as a function of pump-pulse energy. We observe that, at low pump-pulse energies, the switching of the cavity resonance is governed by the instantaneous electronic Kerr effect and is achieved within 300 fs. At high pump-pulse energies, the index change induced by free carriers gen...
Vibration analysis of cracked beams on elastic foundation using Timoshenko beam theory
Batıhan, Ali Çağrı; Kadıoğlu, Fevzi Suat; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2011)
In this thesis, transverse vibration of a cracked beam on an elastic foundation and the effect of crack and foundation parameters on transverse vibration natural frequencies are studied. Analytical formulations are derived for a beam with rectangular cross section. The crack is an open type edge crack placed in the medium of the beam and it is uniform along the width of the beam. The cracked beam rests on an elastic foundation. The beam is modeled by two different beam theories, which are Euler-Bernoulli be...
