Form Invariance of Maxwell's Equations: The Pathway to Novel Metamaterial Specifications for Electromagnetic Reshaping
Ozgun, Ozlem; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa (2010-06-01)
We present spatial-coordinate transformation techniques to control the propagation of electromagnetic fields in several surprising and useful applications. The implementation of this approach is based on the fact that Maxwell's equations are form-invariant under coordinate transformations. Specifically, the effect of a general coordinate transformation can be realized by means of an equivalent anisotropic material, in which the original forms of Maxwell's equations are still preserved-in the transformed spa...
Form factors of D-s(+) -> phi(l)over-bar nu decay in QCD light cone sum rule
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Özpineci, Altuğ; Savcı, Mustafa (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2004-12-01)
We calculate the form factors V, A(1), A(2) and A(0) appearing in the D-s --> phi transition by the light cone QCD sum rule method. We compare our results on these form factors with the current experimental results and existing theoretical calculations.
Shape descriptors based on intersection consistency and global binary patterns
Sivri, Erdal; Kalkan, Sinan; Department of Computer Engineering (2012)
Shape description is an important problem in computer vision because most vision tasks that require comparing or matching visual entities rely on shape descriptors. In this thesis, two novel shape descriptors are proposed, namely Intersection Consistency Histogram (ICH) and Global Binary Patterns (GBP). The former is based on a local regularity measure called Intersection Consistency (IC), which determines whether edge pixels in an image patch point towards the center or not. The second method, called Globa...
Process ontology development using natural language processing: a multiple case study
Gurbuz, Ozge; Rabhi, Fethi; Demirörs, Onur (2019-09-17)
Purpose Integrating ontologies with process modeling has gained increasing attention in recent years since it enhances data representations and makes it easier to query, store and reuse knowledge at the semantic level. The authors focused on a process and ontology integration approach by extracting the activities, roles and other concepts related to the process models from organizational sources using natural language processing techniques. As part of this study, a process ontology population (PrOnPo) metho...
Shape Interpolation via Multiple Curves
Sahillioğlu, Yusuf (null; 2018-10-11)
We present a method that interpolates new shapes between a given pair of source and target shapes. To this end, we utilize a database of related shapes that is used to replace the direct transition from the source to the target by a composition of small transitions. This so-called data-driven interpolation scheme proved useful as long as the database is sufficiently large. We advance this idea one step further by processing the database shapes part by part, which in turn enables realistic interpolations wit...
