Keskin, Fatih
In this study, semi-distributed hydrological model studies were carried out with the Mike11 model in Yuvacık dam Basin. The basin with a drainage area of 257.8 km2 is located in 12 km South East of Izmit city in Türkiye. The basin is divided into three sub-basins named as Kirazdere, Kazandere and Serindere where each sub-basin is represented by its own characteristics. The largest peaks of inflow were observed when the storm events occur due to both snowmelt and rain. Therefore, observed flows for the period of 2001-2006 were grouped as daily and hourly storm events according to the event types such as rainfall, snowmelt or mixed events. Rainfall- Runoff Model (NAM) module of the model was used for the simulation of daily snowmelt and rain on snow events and Unit Hydrograph Method (UHM) module was used for the simulation of hourly rainfall events. A new methodology is suggested for the determination of Curve Number (CN) of the sub-basins by using the fractional area and topographic index values combined with hourly model simulations. The resulting CN values were used in the UHM module v and the suggested CN approach has been validated with the classical SCS-CN approach with GIS analysis. As a result of the study, the parameters of each sub-basin are calibrated with hourly and daily model simulations. The resulting flows are compared with the observed flows where model efficiency is tested with visual and statistical evaluations. The modeling studies give promising results for the computation of runoff during different seasons of a year.

Semi-distributed hydrologic modeling studies in Yuvacik basin
Yener, Mustafa Kemal; Şorman, Ali Ünal; Department of Civil Engineering (2006)
In this study, Yuvacık Basin, which is located in southeastern part of Marmara Region of Türkiye, is selected as the application basin and hydrologic modeling studies are performed for the basin. Basin is divided into three subbasins such as: Kirazdere, Kazandere, and Serindere and each subbasin is modeled with its own parameters. In subbasin and stream network delineation HEC-GeoHMS software is used and for the hydrologic modeling studies the new version of HEC-HMS hydrologic modeling software released in ...
Geostatistical analysis of bathing water quality in Turkey
Doğan, Nazlı Barçın; Yılmazel Tokel, Yasemin Dilşad; Department of Environmental Engineering (2019)
In this study geostatistical methods were applied to critically analyze historical bathing water quality (BWQ) data available for Turkish coastal areas. The specific objective of this study is the determination of the critical bathing sites of Turkey. In order to determine the critical bathing sites, a geostatistical method called indicator kriging is used via ArcGIS. Indicator kriging was applied using three microbial BWQ parameters, namely total coliforms (TC), fecal coliforms (FC) and fecal streptococci ...
Computational studies of isoflavanes: isovestitoland sativan
Onay, A. K.; Onay, M. (2012-05-02)
The O-substitute derivatives of isoflavans were examinated and the results of the structural and conformational analysis of the molecules were given in this study. Isoflavanes are active compouds of plants and vegetables. Isoflavanes have diverse effects on human and animal health. They show preventative properties on growth of breast cancer cells. In addition to this, they affect women's health during menopause and reduce the risk of fibroids and endometriosis. Soy and red clover are natural sources of iso...
Water quality trend analysis in Eymir Lake, Ankara
YENİLMEZ, Firdes; KESKİN, Fatih; Aksoy, Ayşegül (2011-01-01)
In this study, trends in selected water quality parameters in Eymir Lake over a period of 10 years are analyzed using the Mann-Kendall test. Analyzed water quality parameters are dissolved oxygen (DO), total phosphorus (TP), total suspended solids (TSS), and secchi depth (SD). In addition, trends in the yearly averages of precipitation, lake volume, and ambient temperature are examined. According to Mann-Kendall test results, precipitation, volume and ambient temperature values exhibit decreasing trends in ...
Groundwater Impact assessment of Tailings Storage Facility Western Turkey
Peksezer Sayıt, Ayşe; Yazıcıgil, Hasan (null; 2015-12-18)
The purpose of this study is to assess potential impacts of leakage from the base of TSF on groundwater quality both in operational and post-closure period of a mine site in western Turkey. For this purpose, analytical and 2-D and 3-D numerical models are used together. The potential leakage rate of sulphate-bearing solution from the base of TSF is determined from analytical model. 2-D finite element models (SEEP/W and CTRAN/W) are used to simulate unsaturated flow conditions and advective-dispersive contam...
