Pd incorporated MCM-41 type mesoporous catalytic materials were prepared by the basic and the acidic direct hydrothermal synthesis procedures using different Pd sources. Also, nanocomposite materials containing Pd nanoballs within the mesopores of the host MCM-41 were prepared following an impregnation procedure. Basic direct hydrothermal synthesis route was shown to be highly successful for the production of high surface area (over 1000 m(2)/g) Pd-MCM-41 nanocomposite materials with very high Pd/Si wt. ratios, reaching to 0.44. The nanocomposite material produced following the acidic route gave a product with a wider pore size distribution and lower surface area (about 650 m(2)/g). PdCl2 and K2PdCl4 were shown to be better Pd sources than Pd(NH3)(4)(NO3)(2) for the incorporation of Pd into the MCM-41 lattice. The surface area and the pore volume of the host MCM-41 decreased about 20% by the formation of Pd grains in the mesopores of host MCM-41, for the material prepared by the impregnation procedure and containing a Pd/Si wt. ratio of 0.12. Synthesis and characterization of Ba/MCM-41
Kaya, Emine; Oktar, Nuray; Karakaş, Gürkan; Murtezaoglu, Kirali (2010-01-01)
Mesoporous Ba/MCM-41 type materials (Ba/MCM-41) with high Ba/Si molar ratios between 0.025 and 0.1 were synthesized by direct hydrothermal synthesis. The samples were characterized by XRD, nitrogen adsorption, TGA-DTA, FTIR, SEM-EDS, and TEM techniques. BET surface areas of samples with various Ba loadings were found between 722 and 931 m(2)/g with 28 A average pore size, which is consistent with the pore size of 30 A for pure MCM-41 samples synthesized by the same procedure. The crystal structures of synth...
Direct hydrothermal synthesis of palladium-incorporated silicate-structured mesoporous catalysts
Sener, Canan; Doğu, Timur; Dogu, Guelsen (2007-01-01)
Pd-Si-structured novel mesoporous nanocomposite catalytic materials, having quite high Pd/Si ratios, were synthesized by an acidic direct hydrothermal synthesis route. The nanocomposite catalytic materials were then characterized by XRD, XPS, EDS, nitrogen adsorption, and SEM techniques. Unlike MCM-41, the XRD patterns indicated a rather wide d((100)) band at a 2 theta value of about 1.9. The materials, with very high Pd/Si wt ratios between 1.43 and 2.66, were synthesized and had BJH surface area values be...
Effect of carboxylic acid crosslinking of cellulose membranes on nanofiltration performance in ethanol and dimethylsulfoxide
Konca, Kubra; Çulfaz Emecen, Pınar Zeynep (2019-10-01)
Cellulose membranes were fabricated via phase inversion using 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate as solvent and acetone as volatile cosolvent. 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid was used to partially crosslink the hydroxyl groups of cellulose, thereby changing mechanical properties of the membranes and the interactions with solvents, ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide, and solutes. Rejection of dyes of similar size, Bromothymol Blue, Rose Bengal and Crystal Violet were shown to correlate inversely with sorptio...
Effects of aromatic diboronic acid on thermal charateristics of polybenzoxazines based on phenol and aniline
Telli, Aysegul Hisar; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2018-11-01)
In this work, polybenzoxazines based on phenol and aniline were prepared by curing as-synthesized and purified monomers in the presence of aromatic diboronic acid, BDBA. Condensation reactions between BOH groups of diboronic acid and phenolic OH groups of benzoxazine took place during curing only when unreacted phenol, or low mass oligomers were present in the medium. Generation of fragments involving B-O-C groups and significant improvement in thermal characteristics were detected upon curing the as-synthe...
Effect of synthesis media pH and gel separation technique on properties of copper incorporated SBA-15 catalyst
Akti, Filiz; Balci, Suna; Doğu, Timur (2019-10-01)
Cu-SBA-15 catalysts were synthesized hydrothermally under acidic and slightly higher acidic conditions via solid separation by either gel filtration or evaporation. XRD (X-ray diffraction) patterns and HRTEM (high resolution transmission electron microscopy) images showed that metal loading caused little changes in the ordered structure of SBA-15. Characteristic structural SBA-15's bonds and acid sites were observed in FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) spectrums and synthesis under high pH was created chang...
