Efficient Ceria-Supported Rhodium Nanoparticles as an Electrocatalyst for Hydrogen Evolution

2019-12-13
Rh-0/CeO2 catalystwas prepared by the reduction of Rh+3 ions on CeO2 surface and characterized by transmission electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and powder X-ray diffractometry techniques. To investigate its electrocatalytic activity for H-2 evolution reaction, a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was modified with Rh-0/CeO2. The modified electrode was found to exhibit a high electrocatalytic activity (turnover frequency (TOF): 1.56 s(-1) at j = 100 mA.cm(-2)) with a small Tafel slope of 34 mV.dec(-1). Moreover, a high exchange current density of 0.527 mA.cm(-2) and low overpotential of 42 mV at j = 10 mA.cm(-2) were also obtained using Rh-0/CeO2-GCE. There is no noticeable change in the Tafel slope and eta(10) values even after 10000 cyclic scans in acidic environment at room temperature, which makes Rh-0/CeO2 on GCE highly durable and long lived electrocatalyst for water splitting. Silver Nanoparticles Added Polymer Film Prepared by Electrochemical Route for Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering Applications
Khadim, Raisan; Uzun, Ceren; Cihaner, Atilla; Kaya, Murat (The Electrochemical Society, 2019-03-02)
A simplemethod for the fabrication of stable and highly active surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate by exploiting the optical properties of the silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and organizational characteristics of the polymer is presented. Homogeneous distribution ofAgNPs is achieved with the usage of poly (4,7-di-2,3-dihydrothieno [3,4-b] [1,4] dioxin-5-yl-2,1,3 benzoselena diazole) (PESeE) film coated on the indium tin oxide glass (ITO) surface. The obtained structure ensured the emergence of a...
Kinetics of fcc-Al nanocrystallization in Al90Tb10 metallic glass
DEMIRTAS, T.; Kalay, Yunus Eren (Elsevier BV, 2013-10-15)
The crystallization kinetics of Al90Tb10 amorphous alloy were investigated by a combined study of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Cu-K alpha X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses and microhardness measurements. Amorphous to fcc-Al transformation kinetics were descried through Johnson-Mehl-Avrami OMA) approach based on the isothermal DSC hold at 220 degrees C. XRD and TEM revealed the formation of highly populated (similar to 10(21) m(-3)) fcc-Al nanocrystals after...
PARTIAL MOLAR PROPERTIES OF MGCL2 IN MGCL2-KCL-CACL2 MELTS
ZHU, J; Karakaya, İshak; THOMPSON, WT (The Electrochemical Society, 1988-01-01)
To further the understanding of electrolytes of value in industrial magnesium electrolysis, the reversible emf for the formation of in fused salts containing and was studied. The data made possible the calculation of thermodynamic solution properties which were used with other data to construct features of the ternary phase diagram. The multiple discrete complex anion (MDCA) model was tested against the thermodynamic findings from the present study. Reasonable agreement was obtained between the experimen...
Sequential Deposition of Electrochromic MoO3 Thin Films with High Coloration Efficiency and Stability
Turel, Onur; Hacioglu, Serife O.; Coskun, Sahin; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah (The Electrochemical Society, 2017-01-01)
Effect of thin film deposition route on the morphology and performance of molybdenum oxide (MoO3) based electrochromic devices was investigated. For the deposition of thin films, a sequential deposition method, which includes ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) and thermal evaporation methods was used. Films deposited solely using either USP or thermal evaporation method were used as control samples. Following deposition, MoO3 thin films were then characterized using X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spec...
Optical properties of (Ga2Se3)(0.)(75) - (Ga2S3)(0.)(25) single crystals by spectroscopic ellipsometry
Işık, Mehmet; Hasanlı, Nızamı; Gasanova, L. (Elsevier BV, 2019-05-01)
Structural and optical properties of 75 mol % Ga2Se3 - 25 mol % Ga2S3 system of single crystals were investigated by experimental techniques of x-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and ellipsometry. XRD pattern indicated that the studied compound has crystalline nature with cubic structure. Vibrational modes in the crystal were revealed using Raman spectroscopy experiments in the 90-450 cm(-1) frequency range and nine modes were observed in the spectrum. Ellipsometry m...
