A novel red to transmissive electrochromic polymer based on phenanthrocarbazole

2016-01-01
A novel red to transmissive electrochromic polymer is described. A monomer which consists of EDOT and phenanthrocarbazole units was designed. Upon electrochemical polymerization of this material, a red colored polymer film was formed, which upon oxidation switches to a highly transmissive state. A high optical contrast (51%) and fast switching times (0.65 s and 0.52 s) were achieved, making this polymer an important candidate for electrochromic device and simple display applications. In addition, to best of our knowledge, this is the first example of a phenanthrocarbazole containing electrochromic polymer.

CİHANER, ATİLLA; Mert, Olcay; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı (Elsevier BV, 2009-01-30)
A novel conducting polymer was successfully synthesized via electropolymerization of 1-(1H-pyrrol-1-yl)-2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole. The electrochemical and electro-optical properties of the corresponding polymer, which was the first example of polymer containing 1,1'-bipyrrole units, were elaborated using electroanalytical and spectroscopic techniques. Cyclic voltammograms and electro-optical studies showed that the polymer has a stable and well-defined reversible redox process as well as electrochrom...

Carbas, Buket Bezgin; KIVRAK, Arif; Zora, Metin; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar (Elsevier BV, 2011-05-01)
A novel terthienyl based fluorescent polymer bearing pendant quinoxaline moieties directly attached to the 3-positions of the central thiophene ring was synthesized by electrochemical polymerization of 4-((2,5-dithiophen-2-yl)thiophen-3-yl)pyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoxaline (TT-Q). The corresponding polymer was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, FT-IR and UV-vis spectroscopy. The polymer exhibits a reversible redox behavior (Ep(1/2) = 1.05 V) accompanied with a reversible electrochromic behavior; yellowish orange ...

Ferrocene substituted donor-acceptor-donor type polymer; poly(5,8-bis(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-5-yl)-2-(naphthalen-2-yl)-3-ferrocenyl-4a,8a-dihydroquinoxaline) (PDEFNQ) was synthesized and its electrochromic properties were investigated. Cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemistry studies for PDEFNQ showed that it is a multichromic green to transmissive polymer with high tendency to be both p and n doped. PDEFNQ is foreseen as a promising candidate for various applications.
The Role of Electrolyte Composition on Codeposited Ag and Cu
ulu, fulya; Demici, Gokhan; ERDOĞAN, METEHAN; Karakaya, İshak (The Electrochemical Society, 2016-09-01)
The eutectic Ag-Cu composition is a common brazing alloy. A complex ion bath containing KAg(CN)2, CuCN, KCN and K4P2O7 was used to codeposit Ag and Cu. The effects of KAg(CN)2, KCN and K4P2O7 concentrations on the composition and morphology of electrodeposited Ag-Cu films was investigated in this study. A constant CuCN concentration of 0.1 M was used. The increase in KCN and KAg(CN)2 concentrations caused major increases in Ag contents, but increase in K4P2O7 concentration caused a minor decrease in Ag cont...

Used valuable particle embedded composite cutting tools, obtained by powder metallurgy techniques by mixing metallic powders with hard, abrasive particles were electrolyzed for reclamation of metallic powders and valuable particles. The effects of copper ion and sulfuric acid concentrations and pH of the electrolyte, current density and temperature on microstructure of produced copper powders were investigated in detail. Copper powders were characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron micr...
