Cyclic response of saturated sands has become one of the most popular topics in geotechnical earthquake engineering due to the consequent damages of earthquakes. Related to this topic, detailed performance of offshore structures founded on saturated sands under the effect of cyclic loads carries vital economic importance. It is well-known that besides seismic loading; storm, wind and/or submarine slope failures have direct effect on the strength and deformation behavior of soils through induced sea-level va...
Calcination characteristics of laterite ores from the central region of Anatolia
KESKİNKILIÇ, ENDER; Pournaderi, S.; Geveci, Ahmet; Topkaya, Yavuz Ali (2012-10-01)
Drying, calcination, prereduction, and smelting are the main steps in conventional crude ferronickel production. Industrially, these steps are conducted using the rotary kiln-electric arc furnace (RKEF) process. In this paper, calcination characteristics of Sivrihisar laterite ores from the Central Anatolia region are investigated. The extent of elimination of chemically bound water and other volatiles was studied by experiments conducted at various temperatures in the 250-800 degrees C range. Phase changes...

LIQUEFACTION OF NIGDE-ULUKISLA OIL SHALE: THE EFFECTS OF PROCESS PARAMETERS ON THE CONVERSION OF LIQUEFACTION PRODUCTS
KARTAL, ÖZLEM ESEN; Akın, Serhat; Hascakir, Berna; KARACA, HÜSEYİN (2017-01-01)
In this paper, the direct liquefaction of Turkish Nigde-Ulukisla oil shale in noncatalytic and catalytic conditions was studied. The effects of pressure, tetralin/oil shale ratio, catalyst type and concentration, reaction time and temperature and oil shale/waste paper ratio on the process were investigated. It was found that tetralin/oil shale ratio had no considerable effect on the total and liquefaction products conversions under the noncatalytic conditions. Fe2O3, MoO3, Mo(CO)(6), Cr(CO)(6) and zeolite w...
