Nickel extraction from Gördes laterites by hydrochloric acid leaching
Göveli, Ahmet; Atalay, M Ümit; Department of Mining Engineering (2006)
Leaching is the most widely used process for extraction of nickel metal from lateritic ores. In this study, nickel extraction from Manisa-Gördes region laterites by hydrochloric acid leaching is aimed. The mineralogical analysis of sample showed that hematite, goethite, dolomite, quartz and smectite are the main minerals in the ore. Attrition scrubbing, cycloning and magnetic separation with permroll were used as preconcentration processes but results were unsatisfactory. HCl leaching experiments were condu...
Pressure leaching of Sivrihisar-Yunus Emre nickel laterites
Seçen, Berk; Topkaya, Yavuz Ali; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2011)
The aim of this thesis study was to extract nickel and cobalt from Sivrihisar limonitic nickel laterite ore by high pressure acid leaching (HPAL) method under most economical operating parameters. Optimizing the conditions to yield a saleable quality mixed hydroxide product from the pregnant leach solution (PLS) was also investigated. To extract high amounts of nickel and cobalt from the laterite matrix; leaching duration, leaching temperature and sulfuric acid/ore ratio were studied at fixed conditions of ...
Radiation grafting of various water-soluble monomers on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene powder: Part I. Grafting conditions and grafting yield
Aydinli, B; Tincer, T (Elsevier BV, 2001-02-01)
Monomers of some water-soluble polymers; acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylamide, N, N-dimethyl acrylamide and 1-vinyl-2 pyrrolidone, were grafted on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) powders by a direct grafting method in an aqueous medium in air. Inhibition of homopolymerisation was achieved by adding various concentrations of Fe2+ or Cu2+ ions. It was found that the degree of grafting increases linearly with dose till a gelation state is reached, and varies between 40 and 12% depending...
Hydrochloric acid pressure-oxidation of a pyrite concentrate from the Vaal Reefs East Gold Mine
Topkaya, Yavuz Ali (1999-04-01)
The extraction of refractory gold from pyrite concentrate by hydrochloric acid pressure oxidation was investigated on laboratory scale. The aim was for direct solubilization of refractory gold by chloride pressure-leaching without cyanidation.
Electrochemical Removal of Copper from Regenerated Pickling Solutions of Steel Plants
Karakaya, Esra; Aras, Mustafa S.; Erdoğan, Metehan; Karagül, Sedef; Ersoy, Merve; Karakaya, İshak (2018-05-17)
The spent pickle liquor contains the dissolved metal salts of iron, chrome, copper, nickel and zinc [1]. The acid can be cleaned from its impurities, except for its copper ion, by the regeneration process. When the copper concentration of the pickling solution exceeds the level of about 100 ppm, the copper inside the solution replaces the iron in the steel and copper starts plating randomly on the metal surface in the following pickling processes. Because of the plating problem, the acid needs to be discard...
