We propose a new turbo detection structure called as Multiple Channel Turbo Detection (MCTD) where the role of the channel is different than that in the classical case. Contrary to the classical case where the channel is serially concatenated to the channel encoder, it constitutes the component code of a parallel concatenated coding structure which is further concatenated serially with the channel encoding scheme. This is accomplished by transmitting the coded symbols in parallel through randomly interleaved multiplexed channels. The receiver performs joint equalization and decoding by using soft-in soft-out modules that provide a posteriori probabilities of coded as well as uncoded data. Results of computer simulations that are carried out on static as well as dynamic channels show that MCTD is a promising technique for the transmission of coded symbols through dispersive channels.

Non-linear filtering based on observations from Gaussian processes
Gustafsson, Fredrik; Saha, Saikat; Orguner, Umut (2011-03-12)
We consider a class of non-linear filtering problems, where the observation model is given by a Gaussian process rather than the common non-linear function of the state and measurement noise. The new observation model can be considered as a generalization of the standard one with correlated measurement noise in both time and space. We propose a particle filter based approach with a measurement update step that requires a memory of past observations which can be truncated using a moving window to obtain a fi...
Series Active Filter Based Resonance Damping of High Power Three-phase, LCL Filtered, Grid Connected Voltage Source Inverters
Usluer, S. Nadir; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2014-06-04)
A series active filter (SAF) based method for the damping of resonant harmonics created by the LCL-filter of the grid connected PWM-VSI is proposed. Oscillations in multi-megawatt rated high power inverters with LCL-filters are damped with resistors which create undesired power losses typically up to 1% of the rated power of the system. The method stated in this paper overcomes the stability/oscillation problem while providing a solution to the resistive power loss. The proposed SAF compensated system perfo...
Design of Selective Linear Phase Cross-Coupled Dielectric Resonator Filters
Ozturk, Onur Ozan; Oruc, Sacid; Alicioglu, Bulent; Yıldırım, Nevzat (2018-11-02)
In this paper, a highly selective linear phase filter is designed and implemented in cross-coupled form using dielectric resonators in Ku band to be used as a channel filter in IMUX of a satellite receiver. Extreme delay flatness is required: 1.5 nS delay ripple over 60 % of the passband and 12 nS near the band edges. The initial design is carried out as 10 resonator symmetric cross-coupled filter with all ideal inverter couplings realizing two finite transmission zeros (FTZ) satisfying also the delay flatn...
Graph-based joint channel estimation and data detection for large-scale multiuser MIMO-OFDM systems /
Tekin, Şeref Yaşar; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2015)
In this thesis, a graph-based soft iterative receiver for large-scale multiuser MIMO-OFDM systems is proposed that performs joint channel estimation and data detection over time-varying frequency selective channel. In an uplink scenario, factor graph structures for the transmitter of users and the receiver of base-station are presented, which provide Gaussian message passing between nodes. Instead of LLR, reliability information of symbols are used to decrease complexity of the proposed algorithm. Training ...
Synthesis of Bandstop filters with ultra wide upper passbands
Yıldırım, Nevzat (2007-06-08)
A new LP Prototype-to-Distributed Bandstop mapping is defined to synthesize BSF's with controllable upper pass bandwidths. The synthesized filters involve resonators made up of commensurate OC and SC stubs coupled by inverters. It is shown that when inverters are approximated by several unit elements (UE) then their contribution to the response increases appreciably upon optimization. Thus, a novel approach is developed which can be used to synthesize BSF's with contributing UE's having ultra wide upper pas...
