In this paper, chiral nihility based pressure, density, temperature and moisture content metamaterial sensor applications are investigated in detail. A "chiral nihility'' medium in which both the permittivity and the permeability tend to zero is investigated. Gammadion shaped resonators particularly designed for chiral nihility are introduced. Bandwidths and signal strengths show admissible results. Simulation and experimental results prove that chiral nihility occurred at the resonance frequencies when medium parameters are retrieved. The pressure and density sensor applications of the proposed sensor study are realized both numerically and experimentally, and the obtained results show good agreements with each other.

Metamaterial Absorber Based Multifunctional Sensors
Sabah, Cumali (The Electrochemical Society, 2016-01-01)
In this paper, several important applications of a metamaterial absorber (MA) based sensors such as temperature, pressure, moisture, and density are presented. Since the sensing ability mostly considers the resonance frequency, the frequency range where the resonance shifts occur linearly or non-linearly depending on the temperature, pressure, moisture, and density changes is selected carefully. The model is composed of X shaped resonators (XSR), dielectric substrate, the sensing layer, dielectric substrate...
Metamaterial Sensor Applications Based on Broadside Coupled SRR and V Shaped Resonator Structures
EKMEKÇİ, EVREN; Sayan, Gönül (2011-07-08)
In this study, the use of broadside-coupled SRR (BC-SRR) metamaterial topology is suggested for pressure, temperature, humidity and concentration sensor applications. Also, the use of V-shaped resonator topology is suggested for pressure sensor application. The feasibility of such sensors are demonstrated by numerical simulations for microwave region under magnetic excitation.

Perfect metamaterial absorber (MA)-based sensor applications are presented and investigated tigated in the microwave frequency range. It is also experimentally analyzed and tested to verify the behavior of the MA. Suggested perfect MA -based sensor has a simple configuration which introduces flexibility to sense the dielectric properties of a material and the pressure of the medium. The investigated applications include pressure and density sensing. Besides, numerical simulations verify that the suggested s...
Asymmetric transmission of linearly polarized electromagnetic waves using chiral metamaterials with constant chirality over a certain frequency band
Akgöl, Oğuzhan; Dinçer, Furkan; Karaaslan, Muharrem; Ünal, Emin; Sabah, Cumali (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2014-12-30)
In this study, a dynamic chiral metamaterial (MTM) structure leading to an asymmetric electromagnetic (EM) wave transmission for linear polarization is presented. The structure is composed of square-shaped resonator with gaps on both sides of a dielectric substrate with a certain degree of rotation. The dynamic structure is adjustable via various parameters to fit any desired frequency ranges. Theoretical and experimental analysis of the proposed structure are conducted and given in detail. The suggested mo...
Dual-band high-frequency metamaterial absorber based on patch resonator for solar cell applications and its enhancement with graphene layers
Ustunsoy, Mehmet Pasa; Sabah, Cumali (2016-12-05)
In this paper, a dual-band high-frequency metamaterial absorber based on patch resonator is designed and analyzed for solar cells. In order to obtain a metamaterial absorber, metal-semiconductor-metal layers are combined. The results of the designed structure are shown in the infrared and visible ranges of solar spectrum. Structural parameters and dimensions of the device have a significant importance on the performance of the designed absorber. The simulations are carried out with full-wave electromagnetic...
