Background. Behcets disease (BD) is a multisystem inflammatory disorder characterized by recurrent oral ulcers, genital ulcers and ocular inflammation, as well as skin, joint, vascular, pulmonary, central nervous system (CNS) and gastrointestinal tract manifestations. The etiopathogenesis of BD has not yet been identified; but it has generally been accepted that several environmental factors may induce an inflammatory, attack in genetically susceptible individuals. In this study, we aimed to identify antigens that could elicit high-titer IgG responses by the serological analysis of recombinant expression of cDNA libraries method (SEREX).

Investigation of the relationship between strength and dynamic balance performance in elite wrestlers
Talici, Ali; Unlu, Gurcan; Cakmakci, Evrim; Carmakci, Oktay (2021-01-01)
Background. Wrestlers rely heavily on the abilities of strength and balance to ensure success. Although previous studies have investigated the effects of different training methods on the athletic performance of strength and balance, there are a limited number of studies aimed at examining the relationship between these two performances.
Acute Effects of Customizing a Tennis Racket on Serve Speed
Söğüt, Mustafa (2017-04-01)
Background. A vast number of tennis players use additional lead weights attached to their rackets in order to improve stroke performances. However, there is limited evidence that racket customization as such boosts efficiency in different age and performance levels. The purpose of this repeated measures design study was to determine the acute effects of adding weight to the tip of a racket on serve speed in tennis players. Methods. Participants were male tennis players from three different age and performan...
Do-it-yourself but do it together: Interdisciplinary Design Studio
Aydınoğlu, Arsev Umur; Kaygan, Pınar (2016-08-30)
Background. This study explores design process in a collaborative educational setting. Design Factory @METU is an interdisciplinary research and education center whose primary objective is providing space and equipment infrastructure required for design projects that are conducted in teams. Interdisciplinary student teams (engineering, design, architecture, and business students, 42 in total) were given a theme –emergency– and asked to develop an artefact addressing it using the DF spaces and tools. T...

Assessing the validity of a statistical distribution: some illustrative examples from dermatological research
Sürücü, Barış (Wiley, 2008-05-01)
Background. Assuming a statistical distribution is one of the key points before conducting a statistical analysis. Goodness-of-fit tests are used to assess the validity of an assumed statistical distribution. In dermatological research, the goodness-of-fit tests used are less powerful.
