Reconstructed density and velocity fields from the 2MASS Redshift Survey

W We present the reconstructed real-space density and the predicted velocity fields from the Two-Micron All-Sky Redshift Survey (2MRS). The 2MRS is the densest all-sky redshift survey to date and includes about 23 200 galaxies with extinction-corrected magnitudes brighter than K-s = 11.25. Our method is based on the expansion of these fields in Fourier-Bessel functions. Within this framework, the linear redshift distortions only affect the density field in the radial direction and can easily be deconvolved using a distortion matrix. Moreover, in this coordinate system, the velocity field is related to the density field by a simple linear transformation. The shot noise errors in the reconstructions are suppressed by means of a Wiener filter which yields a minimum variance estimate of the density and velocity fields. Using the reconstructed real-space density fields, we identify all major superclusters and voids. At 50 h(-1) Mpc, our reconstructed velocity field indicates a backside infall to the Great Attractor region of v(infall) = (491 +/- 200) (ss/0.5) km s(-1) in the Local Group frame and v(infall) = (64 +/- 205) (ss/0.5) km s(-1) in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) frame and ss is the redshift distortion parameter. The direction of the reconstructed dipole agrees well with the dipole derived by Erdogdu et al. The misalignment between the reconstructed 2MRS and the CMB dipoles drops to 13 degrees at around 5000 km s(-1) but then increases at larger distances.

We report on Chandra observations of 18 hard X-ray (>20 keV) sources discovered with the INTEGRAL satellite near the Galactic plane. For 14 of the INTEGRAL sources, we have uncovered one or two potential Chandra counterparts per source. These provide soft X-ray (0.3-10 keV) spectra and subarcsecond localizations, which we use to identify counterparts at other wavelengths, providing information about the nature of each source. We probe the properties of the transient X-ray pulsar MAXI J1409-619 through RXTE and Swift follow-up observations of the outburst in 2010. We are able to phase-connect the pulse arrival times for the 25 d episode during the outburst. We present timing and spectral analysis of Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer-Proportional Counter Array observations of SMCX-1 between 1996 January and 2003 December. From observations around 1996 August 30 with a time-span of similar to 6 d, we obtain a precise timing solution for the source and resolve the eccentricity as 0.00089(6). OBSERVATIONS OF A DELTA SCUTI-LIKE PULSATOR - HR-7222

Visual and blue band photometric observations of the delta Scuti-type variable have been carried out. It has been found that LT Vul pulsates in the radial fundamental mode. Higher overtones such as third and n > 3 overtones have also been detected.

CSS081007:030559+054715 was discovered by the Catalina Real-time Transient Survey. Optical spectroscopy revealed a multi-peaked Ha emission line profile with radial velocities exceeding 1500 km/s, as well as strong Ne emission, suggestive of a neon nova. We monitored the source extensively with the Swift satellite, obtaining a unique dataset spanning 270 days in the soft X-ray and UV bands.
