Extended field reconstruction method for modeling of interior permanent magnet synchronous machines
Gu, Lei; Moallem, M.; Bostancı, Emine; Wang, Shiliang; Devendra, Patil (2016-07-22)
This paper presents an extended field reconstruction method (EFRM) that is developed to model an interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM), which is known for its high power density and power factor. Traditional field reconstruction method is a very convenient tool for the modeling and analysis of the performance of the surface mounted permanent magnet machine (SPMSM). Regarding IPMSM, which usually works under saturation, traditional FRM method cannot be directly applied. An improved FRM, which...
Extended scattering delay networks incorporating arbitrarily shaped rooms and edge diffraction
Pekçetin, Serkan; Hacıhabiboğlu, Hüseyin; Department of Modeling and Simulation (2016)
In order to achieve immersion in computer games, room acoustics models are often employed. Due to highly computational cost involved in full-scale room simulation, artificial reverberators are commonly used. Scattering Delay Network is such a reverberator that can run at interactive rates. The reverberator relies on geometrical acoustics to render first-order reflections correctly while it offers a convincing approximation in higher order reflections. The original model was exclusively proposed for shoebox ...
Extended Target Tracking using a Gaussian-Mixture PHD Filter
Granstrom, Karl; Lundquist, Christian; Orguner, Umut (2012-10-01)
This paper presents a Gaussian-mixture (GM) implementation of the probability hypothesis density (PHD) filter for tracking extended targets. The exact filter requires processing of all possible measurement set partitions, which is generally infeasible to implement. A method is proposed for limiting the number of considered partitions and possible alternatives are discussed. The implementation is used on simulated data and in experiments with real laser data, and the advantage of the filter is illustrated. S...
Visual Result Prediction in Electromagnetic Simulations Using Machine Learning
Karaosmanoglu, Bariscan; Ergül, Özgür Salih (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2019-11-01)
In this letter, we present a novel approach based on using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to visually predict solutions of electromagnetic problems. CNN models are constructed and trained such that images of surface currents obtained at the early stages of an iterative solution can be used to predict images of the final (converged) solution. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the predicted images contain significantly better visual details than the corresponding input images. The developed approac...
Extended target tracking using reduced rank gaussian processes
Özcan , Mustafa Buğra; Özkan, Emre; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2021-2-12)
Conventional tracking algorithms are predominantly based on point target assumption; however, this assumption is challenged as a result of the advents in sensor resolutions. Improvements on processors and rapid advances in sensor capabilities has enabled to the perception of target characteristics beyond the kinematics. Extended target tracking is the ability to learn target shapes that occupy multiple resolution cells and to track the motion of the target in a recursive framework. Gaussian process, a non-p...
