Random Matrix Based Extended Target Tracking with Orientation: A New Model and Inference
Tuncer, Barkın; Özkan, Emre (2021-02-01)
In this study, we propose a novel extended target tracking algorithm which is capable of representing the extent of dynamic objects as an ellipsoid with a time-varying orientation angle. A diagonal positive semi-definite matrix is defined to model objects' extent within the random matrix framework where the diagonal elements have inverse-Gamma priors. The resulting measurement equation is non-linear in the state variables, and it is not possible to find a closed-form analytical expression for the true poste...
Depth assisted object segmentation in multi-view video
Cigla, Cevahir; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2008-01-01)
In this work, a novel and unified approach for multi-view video (MVV) object segmentation is presented. In the first stage, a region-based graph-theoretic color segmentation algorithm is proposed, in which the popular Normalized Cuts segmentation method is improved with some modifications on its graph structure. Segmentation is obtained by recursive bi-partitioning of a weighted graph of an initial over-segmentation mask. The available segmentation mask is also utilized during dense depth map estimation ste...
Object Segmentation in Multi-view Video via Color, Depth and Motion Cues
Cigla, Cevahir; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2009-01-01)
In the light of dense depth map estimation, motion estimation and object segmentation, the research on multi-view video (MVV) content has becoming increasingly popular due to its wide application areas in the near future. In this work, object segmentation problem is studied by additional cues due to depth and motion fields. Segmentation is achieved by modeling images as graphical models and performing popular Normalized Cuts method with some modifications. In the graphical models, each node is represented b...
Edge-Aware Stereo Matching with O(1) Complexity
Cigla, Cevahir; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2012-01-26)
In this paper, a novel local stereo matching algorithm is introduced, providing precise disparity maps with low computational complexity. Following the common steps of local matching methods, namely cost calculation, aggregation, minimization and occlusion handling; the time consuming intensity dependent aggregation procedure is improved in terms of both speed and precision. For this purpose, a novel approach, denoted as permeability filtering (PF), is introduced, engaging computationally efficient two pass...
TEMPORALLY CONSISTENT DENSE DEPTH MAP ESTIMATION VIA BELIEF PROPAGATION
Cigla, Cevahir; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2009-01-01)
A method for estimating temporally and spatially consistent dense depth maps in multiple camera setups is presented which is important for reduction of perception artifacts in 3D displays. For this purpose, initially, depth estimation is performed for each camera with the piece-wise planarity assumption and Markov Random Field (MRF) based relaxation at each time instant independently. During the relaxation step, the consistency of depth maps for different cameras is also considered for the reliability of th...
