Titanium and its alloys are widely used materials in engineering and dental/medical applications. The target of related researches is to eliminate the risk of implant rejection of the human body with enhancing Ti6Al4V biocompatibility. Even though coating Ti6Al4V with hydroxyapatite do not provide the desired amount of biocompatibility, the usage of hydroxyapatite (which has very similar structure to bone) coated Ti6Al4V is still one of the most accepted application. In order to achieve better hydroxyapatite coating, the surface will be modified with sulphuric acid that leads to increase surface porosity. In this study, Ti6Al4V plates were etched with sulfuric acid and then hydroxyapatite was coated onto acid etched porous Ti6Al4V surface. Obtained coated and pre-treated plates were evaluated in terms of their structural properties by the use of SEM, EDS, ICP, XRD, FTIR, Raman analysis.

Titanium and its alloys are used in both engineering and dental applications. Ti6Al4V alloy is one of the most commonly preferred titanium alloy used in medical industry. Ti6Al4V with hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating has been frequently used material combinations. Though coating Ti6Al4V with HAp does not provide the desired amount of biocompatibility, it is significant to coat doped HAp on titanium alloy with antibacterial properties. In this thesis, first of all best experimental conditions for pre-treatment a...

Titanium and its alloys are commonly preferred implant materials for hard tissue applications. Today more than 4.4 million people have an internal fixation device and over 1.3 million people possess an artificial joint. Not only is there high demand for orthopedic surgeries for new patients every year, but there is also an even higher demand for patients who must receive revision surgeries. In order to enhance the properties of titanium based implant materials, different pretreatment and coating techniques ...
Investigation of SiCp reinforced aluminium matrix composites by shear and longitudinal ultrasonic waves
Gür, Cemil Hakan (2001-11-01)
SiC particulate reinforced aluminium matrix composites are attractive materials for automotive and aerospace applications because of their outstanding stiffness and strength as compared to the aluminium alloys, in addition to the low cost of particulate reinforcement. The aim of this study is to establish correlations between ultrasonic wave velocities and SiC content, microstructure and mechanical properties of SiC reinforced Al composites, Specimens were fabricated for various volume fraction and size com...

Titanium and its alloys are used in various industries due to their mechanical properties such as high corrosion resistance, high strength and low-density. However, utilization of parts made of titanium are limited since the lead time for raw material is long, they are hard to machine, and the machining costs are high. On the other hand, it is possible to produce complex parts with powder material by additive manufacturing techniques, and there is a growing interest in research on these new technologies. El...
Synthesis and Characterization of Zirconium based Bulk Amorphous Alloys
Saltoğlu, İlkay; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; Mehrabov, Amdulla (2005-09-28)
In recent years, bulk amorphous alloys and nanocrystalline materials have been synthesized in a number of ferrous and non-ferrous based alloys systems, which have gained some applications due to their unique physico-chemical and mechanical properties. In the last decade, Zr-based alloys with a wide supercooled liquid region and excellent glass forming ability have been discovered. These systems have promising application fields due to their mechanical properties; high tensile strength, high fracture toughne...
