Space radiation environment and radiation hardness assurance tests of electronic components to be used in space missions
Amutkan, Özge; Esendemir, Akif; Department of Physics (2010)
Space radiation is significantly harmful to electronic Components. The operating time, duration and orbit of the space mission are affected by the characteristic of the radiation environment. The aging and the performance of the electronic components are modified by radiation. The performance of the space systems such as electronic units, sensors, power and power subsystem units, batteries, payload equipments, communication units, remote sensing instruments, data handling units, externally located units, an...
Space plasma effects on Earth-space and satellite-to-satellite communications: Working Group 4 overview
Radicella, SM; Tulunay, E (2004-01-01)
This paper summarizes the the activities carried out by Working Group 4 of COST 271 Action. The structure of this Working Group included four Working packages that were dealing with different aspects of the same overall problem related to space plasma variability and irregularities effects on advanced satellite systems. General comments about the most relevant achievements and possible future lines of research are given.
Space Interaction and Innovation Does Proximity Really Matter for High Tech Firms
Wasti Pamuksuz, Syeda Nazlı (2015-06-01)
There is a widespread assumption in economic geography and innovation economics that firms located in the samegeographic clusters benefit from being together and that proximity promotes knowledge externalities leading toinnovative activity. However, proximity provided by geographic clusters is by no means a guarantee of the developmentof interactions between firms located in them. Especially in an environment where technological developments in ICThas reshaped the meaning of distance, business behavior, and...
Space scanning FMCW-based two-dimensional frequency diverse array radar
KARADAĞ, SAVAŞ; Demir, Şimşek; Hizal, Altunkan (2019-10-01)
The frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW)-based frequency diverse array (FDA) radar concept is extended to two dimensions (2D). The radar operates as a linear pulsed FMCW/FDA in the transmission (TX) mode while it operates as a pulsed FMCW/phased array (PA) in the receiving mode. It is shown that the FDA has the capability of scanning a 2D angular sector in a single pulse TX. It is shown that local instantaneous frequency bandwidth is much smaller than the radiofrequency (RF) frequency deviation of lin...
Space-charge-limited current analysis in amorphous InSe thin films
Yılmaz, Koray Kamil; Parlak, Mehmet (2004-04-01)
The study of space-charge-limited currents (SCLC) in amorphous InSe thin films is presented. The temperature-dependent current-voltage (J-V) measurements were carried out for TO/a-lnSe/Au sandwich structures in the range of 200-320 K. For all samples, ohmic behavior was observed up to an electric field strength of about 2 x 10(5) V cm(-1). From the temperature dependence of conductivity data, the position of the thermal equilibrium Fermi level E-fo is determined as 250 meV above the valence band E-v. At hig...
