Significance of Physiological and Biochemical Approaches for Black Sea Fishery Investigations
Shulman, Gh; Vn, Nıkolsky; Tv, Yuneva; Shchepkına, Am; Bat, Levent; Kıdeyş, Ahmet Erkan (2007-05-01)
Physiological and biochemical methods are important tools for solving certain fishery problems, such as observed trends of fish distribution and migrations; estimation of productivity of commercial species; indicators and monitoring of stock condition and separating populations. In the review, major results of related long-term studies are presented.
Application of the Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems Index to World Cities with a Normative Scenario for Rio de Janeiro
Kılkış, Şiir (2018-09-01)
Urban sustainability is one of the most prominent challenges in the global agenda waiting to be addressed since the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. This research work applies a composite indicator that has been developed as the Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems Index to benchmark the performance of a new sample of 26 world cities. The sample advances the geographical diversity of previous samples and represents cities in the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy as ...
Application of the bentix index in assessing ecological quality of hard substrata: a case study from the Bosphorus Strait, Turkey
KALKAN, E.; KARHAN, S.U.; MUTLU, E.; SIMBOURA, N.; BEKOLET, M. (National Documentation Centre (EKT), 2007-6-1)
In this paper, a biotic index (Bentix) has been used for the assessment of ecological quality status of shallow water hard substrate benthic ecosystems affected by coastal sewage discharges in the Bosphorus Strait. A significant difference was observed between the control and the discharge stations with regard to Bentix values (Mann-Whitney U Test, p=0.002) and ecological quality status of the discharge stations was worse than that of controls. The index values revealed that sewage discharges caused ser...
Application of Technical and Economic Analysis on Refuge and Self Breathing Apparatus Design
Amır, Taghiıadeh; Demirel, Nuray; Bahramı, Ataallah (2011-05-13)
Most of the time, accidents happened in mining operations such as drilling, transportation, excavation, and supporting operations. Moreover, underground mining operations have restrictions and hazards. Indeed, lack of oxygen, severe heat, thirst and starvation are some great events when miners trapped in mining accidents. Thus, refuge provides a secure location for workers in accidents, which can solve these problems. These rooms located on specific position and out fitted them with peculiar devices. Howeve...
Contribution to the collaborative work in virtual organization - a case study
Weber, Gerhard Wilhelm; Özdamar, Linet; Pedamallu, Chandra Sekhar; Crespo, Fernando A. (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2012-10-1)
A virtual organization is a community of people who interact together socially on a technical platform. These kinds of communities are built on a common interest, a common problem or a common task of its members that is pursued on the basis of implicit and explicit codes of behavior. The six dimensions that are normally used to analyze virtual organizations are the use of technologies, sense of belonging, success factors, level of trust from members, virtual community management, and contents of the virtual...
