In communication systems like WiMAX, WLAN, 3G, 4G and LTE, design of wideband and dual polarized antennas are required. It is known that bandwidth of patch antennas can be broaden by using thick air substrates. The bandwidth can be further improved by using three dimensional feed strucutures that are electromagnetically coupled to the patch. In this thesis, microstrip patch antennas that are excited by elevated wide strips are studied. First, a linearly polarized antenna is considered and the effects of ant...

High power magnetron design and electron emission characteristics
Doğru, Mesut Cemal; Demir, Şimşek; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2018)
Microwave applications which requires high power gave raise to need for magnetrons which can generate high power and resist this power. The invention of relativistic magnetrons met that requirment in some extent. However, their inherent pulse-shortening issue limits the obtained energy from that kind of magnetrons. In order to compansate the effects of that problem, the start-up time of magnetrons should be reduced. By this way, the energy in one pulse can be increased. In the literature, there are some met...

In this work, we demonstrate a single frequency, high power fiber-laser system, operating at 1550 nm, generating controllable rectangular-shape mu s pulses. In order to control the amplified spontaneous emission content, and overcome the undesirable pulse steepening during the amplification, a new method with two seed sources operating at 1550 nm and 1560 nm are used in this system. The output power is about 35 W in CW mode, and the peak power is around 32 W in the pulsed mode. The repetition rate of the sy...
