Visualizing the protein-protein interactions network in virtual reality and mixed reality environments
Şenderin, Büşra; Sürer, Elif; Tunçbağ, Nurcan; Department of Modeling and Simulation (2021-8)
Protein-protein interactions (PPI) define the physical contact of two or more protein structures. When these interactions are combined, the protein-protein interaction network (PPIN) is formed. The interactions between protein structures are distinct interactions—they happen in specific binding locations on proteins, and they have a specific biological function that they take on. With these networks, the processes within a cell or a living organism when healthy or diseased can be studied. In this thesis, a ...
VISUALIZATION OF ELECTRICAL INHOMOGENEITIES IN HIGH-OHMIC SEMICONDUCTOR PLATES BY AN IONIZATION-TYPE PHOTOGRAPHIC SYSTEM
LEBEDEVA, NN; SALAMOV, BG; Akınoğlu, Bülent Gültekin; ALLAKHVERDIEV, KR (IOP Publishing, 1994-06-14)
A device for rapid visualization of electrical and spatial inhomegeneities of a semi-insulating GaAs (rho greater-than-or-equal-to 10(6) OMEGA cm) is described. This visualizer is a modification of the ionization type photographic system in which a semiconducting plate is placed between transparent plane parallel electrodes in the gas discharge cell. The gas discharge gaps are formed between free surfaces of the semiconductor and electrodes. When a voltage is applied to the electrodes a discharge luminescen...
Visualization of deep networks trained for bipolardisorder classification by using fnirs measurements
Oğuzhan, Babacan; Ulusoy, İlkay; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2021-2-03)
Deep learning applications have achieved impressive performances on many medi-cal problems such as classification of disorders, effects of a treatment or unspottedsymptoms of a disease, etc. While modern deep learning progress is impressive insuch areas, genuine understandings of its working principles are not clear. For thatmatter, the term black box has often been associated with deep learning algorithms. The majority of previous studies have concentrated on networks’ successes and havecomputed their per...
Numerical simulation of wave-induced scour and backfilling processes beneath submarine pipelines
Fuhrman, David R; Baykal, Cüneyt; Sumer, B Mutlu; Jacobsen, Niels G; Fredsoe, Jorgen (2014-12-01)
A fully-coupled hydrodynamic/morphodynamic numerical model is presented and utilized for the simulation of wave-induced scour and backfilling processes beneath submarine pipelines. The model is based on solutions to Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations, coupled with k - omega turbulence closure, with additional bed and suspended load descriptions forming the basis for sea bed morphology. The morphological evolution is updated continuously, rather than being based e.g. on period- or other time-averaging...
