Foraminiferal fauna of some Carboniferous–Permian blocks from the Mersin Mélange (Central Taurus, Southern Turkey): A correlation with carbonate successions in adjacent Tauride tectonic units
Okuyucu, Cengiz; Tekin, Uğur Kağan; Bedi, Yavuz; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal; Sayıt, Kaan; Uzunçimen Keçeli, Seda (Kazan Federal University; 2015-08-15)
The Mersin Complex from Southern Turkey is composed of two different tectonic units as; the Mersin Mélange, and the ophiolitic series with a metamorphic sole. The Mersin Mélange is composed of blocks of various origins with different stratigraphic ranges within a Late Cretaceous matrix. The foraminiferal contents of three limestone blocks of the Carboniferous and Permian age from the Mersin Mélange have been studied to evaluate their origin, to determine their total stratigraphic range and to correlate them...
Foraminiferal biostratigraphy in the Bashkirian-Moscovian boundary beds (Taurides, Turkey): evidence for Glacio- Eustatic sea-level change in the Early Pennsylvanian
Altıner, Sevinç; Yılmaz, İsmail Ömer (null; 2015-11-04)
Foraminifera, Radiolaria and Conodont assemblages from the Early Mississipian (late Tournaisian)/Early Pennsylvanian (early Bashkirian) blocks within the Mersin Melange, southern Turkey: Biochronological and paleogeographical implications
OKUYUCU, CENGİZ; TEKİN, UĞUR KAĞAN; Noble, Paula J.; Bedi, Yavuz; Saydam-Demiray, D. Gulnur; Sayıt, Kaan (2018-12-01)
The Mersin Melange, a sedimentary complex in southern Turkey, includes blocks of various origins within a Late Cretaceous matrix. Two blocks in the Mersin Melange are herein recognized to be of Carboniferous age. One block (the Kozan Block) is composed of alternating chert and mudstone, and includes radiolarian and conodont assemblages revealing a late Tournaisian (Early Mississippian) age. The other (Keven-West Block) consists of platform carbonate containing abundant foraminifera indicating Bashkirian (Ea...
Foraminiferal fauna of Middle Permian blocks/tectonic slices from the Mersin Mélange, southern Turkey
Okuyucu, Cengiz; Tekin, Uğur Kağan; Bedi, Yavuz; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal; Sayıt, Kaan (null; 2018-03-21)
The Mersin Ophiolitic Complex from the southern Turkey is an allochthonous body including two different units as the Mersin Mélange (MM) and the Mersin Ophiolite. The MM is a sedimentary mélange including blocks and tectonic slices of oceanic and continental origin, embedded in a Late Cretaceous matrix. Based on the previous studies, these blocks in the MM are mainly originated from the northern margin of the Tauride-Anatolide terrane facing to the Northern Branch of Neotethys (Izmir-Ankara Ocean) and inclu...
