On Independence and Sensitivity of Statistical Randomness Tests
Turan, Meltem Soenmez; Doğanaksoy, Ali; Boztas, Serdar (2008-09-18)
Statistical randomness testing has significant importance in analyzing the quality of random number generators. In this study, we focus on the independence of randomness tests and its effect on the coverage of test suites. We experimentally observe that frequency, overlapping template, longest run of ones, random walk height and maximum order complexity tests are correlated for short sequences. We also proposed the concept of sensitivity, where we analyze the effect of simple transformations on output p-val...
On maximal permissiveness of hierarchical and modular supervisory control approaches for discrete event systems
Schmidt, Klaus Verner (2008-08-26)
Recently, several efficient modular and hierarchical approaches for the control of discrete event systems (DES) have been proposed. Although these methods are very suitable for dealing with the state space explosion problem, their common limitation is that either maximal permissiveness is not addressed or unnecessarily restrictive conditions are required in order to ensure maximally permissive control. In this paper we develop a unified framework for the investigation of maximal permissiveness of modular co...
On Channel Capacity and Error Compensation in Molecular Communication
Atakan, Baris; Akan, Ozgur B. (2007-12-13)
Molecular communication is a novel paradigm that uses molecules as an information carrier to enable nanomachines to communicate with each other, Controlled molecule delivery between two nanomachines is one of the most important challenges which must be addressed to enable the molecular communication. Therefore, it is essential to develop an information theoretical approach to find out communication capacity of the molecular channel. In this paper, we develop an information theoretical approach for capacity ...
ON ROBUSTNESS OF CONCURRENT LEARNING ADAPTIVE CONTROL TO TIME-VARYING DISTURBANCES AND SYSTEM UNCERTAINTIES
Sarsilmaz, S. Burak; Kutay, Ali Türker; Yucelen, Tansel (2017-11-09)
In this paper, we study the robustness characteristics of a recently developed concurrent learning model reference adaptive control approach to time-varying disturbances and system uncertainties. Specifically, the commonly-used constant (or slowly time-varying) assumption on disturbances and system uncertainties for this particular adaptive control approach is replaced with its bounded counterpart with piecewise continuous and bounded derivatives. Based on the Lyapunov's direct method, we then show that the...
On the discretization of Darboux Integrable Systems
Zheltukhın, Kostyantyn (Informa UK Limited, 2020-10-01)
We study the discretization of Darboux integrable systems. The discretization is done using x-, y-integrals of the considered continuous systems. New examples of semi-discrete Darboux integrable systems are obtained.
