Modelling weather index based drought insurance for provinces in the Central Anatolia Region
Evkaya, Ö. Ozan; Yıldırak, Ş. Kasırga; Department of Actuarial Sciences (2012)
Drought, which is an important result of the climate change, is one of the most serious natural hazards globally. It has been agreed all over the world that it has adverse impacts on the production of agriculture, which plays a major role in the economy of a country. Studies showed that the results of the drought directly affected the crop yields, and it seems that this negative impact will continue drastically soon. Moreover, many researches revealed that, Turkey will be affected from the results of climat...
Modelling the oscillating star V1162 Ori
Civelek, R; Kiziloglu, N; Kirbiyik, H (EDP Sciences, 2003-12-01)
Evolutionary stellar models of V1162 Ori, with the latest observations of a multiperiodic delta Scuti star, have been calculated theoretically and compared with the observations. Theoretical models representative of the star indicate that it is at an advanced stage of its main-sequence evolution. Calculations have been made for two different masses, 1.80 and 1.82 M-., at different rotational speeds. Rotation was treated as a perturbation and only the first-order effect was considered. The evolutionary model...
Modelling private manufacturing investment in Turkey
Kale Attar, Pelin; Temel, Adil (Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi (Ankara, Turkey), 2002)
This paper presents an empirical model of private manufacturing investment in Turkey based on a neoclassical model of investment that allows for costly adjustment of capital. Before the resultant error correction model is estimated, the long run effects of public investment on private capital formation are investigated using multivariate cointegration techniques. Our empirical results show that in the long run, private manufacturing investment responds positively to an increase in the manufacturing se...
Modelling dependence among Turkish financial institutions using dynamic Vine copula
Gür, İsmail; Evkaya, Ozan; Yıldırım Külekci, Bükre; Poyraz, Gülden (2022-05-15)
The utilization of multivariate copulas to model the dependence is mainly limited to elliptical and Archimedean copulas. By nature, both classes are quite restrictive concerning the symmetry and tail dependencies. Moreover, they are not flexible and not easy to estimate with high-dimensional data. The vine copulas overcome the restrictive features of the bivariate copulas.. In this context, we apply Vine-GARCH models in a moving window to examine the time-varying co-dependencies of 12 bank stocks liste...
