Abstract: The Feasibility Report/ Environmental Impact Statement has been prepared to address the future navigation needs of New York and New Jersey Harbor. The report has been prepared by the New York District and coordinated with the non-Federal partners, the State of New York (assisted by the City ofNew York), the State of New Jersey and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Various agencies and the public also participated in the study through a series of public and advisory group meetings. This comprehensive navigation study of the Harbor investigated the feasibility of deepening all major channels to all marine terminals. The report considers the projected growth in world trade and the size of containerships in the world fleet and identifies the optimum navigation improvements to maximize maritime transportation cost savings.
