Abstract
Ni(C2H4)3 reacts with alkalimetal hydridoaluminates or -gallates MAHAl/GaR3 and MAH2AlR2 (R= alkyl) in ether/pmdta at temperatures between −70 and −20°C to yield the ion pair complexes (pmdta)MA3-H)Ni2(C2H4)2 (MA = Li (2a), Na (2b)). According to their structure and chemical properties, 2a,b can be regarded as model compounds for the nickel(0) induced addition of alkalimetal hydrides to alkenes.
