Impacto do terceiro sector no desenvolvimento local e social : inquérito à percepção das Associações de Amarante

Abstract

O Terceiro Sector integra realidades sociais heterogéneas e difusas e é constituído por um conjunto diverso de organizações: as associações, as cooperativas, as mutualidades, as fundações, entre outras. Estas organizações desenvolveram-se de forma diversificada, de país para país e de região para região. As características específicas das organizações do Terceiro Sector concedem-lhe uma função importante na regulação do mercado do emprego. As organizações do Terceiro Sector em Portugal apresentam-se então como empregadoras importantes e fornecedoras de serviços indispensáveis para a coesão social e o bem-estar das comunidades. Estas exercem um papel fulcral para o desenvolvimento local, uma vez que ajudam na criação de receitas e de emprego. Portanto este estudo tem como problemática o impacto do Terceiro Sector no desenvolvimento local e social, sendo que a parte empírica recairá sobre as respostas obtidas por inquéritos distribuídos junto das Associações do concelho de Amarante. Esta dissertação de mestrado é composta por cinco capítulos: introdução, revisão da literatura, metodologia, resultados e considerações finais. No capítulo 1 delimita-se o assunto, justifica-se o tema e são expostas as questões e hipóteses de trabalho. No capítulo 2 faz-se um enquadramento teórico que suporta o trabalho. No capítulo 3 apresenta-se e descreve-se a estratégia metodológica adoptada. No capítulo 4 são apresentados, descritos e analisadas os resultados obtidos através do inquérito. Por fim, no capítulo 5 são expostas as conclusões, limitações e sugestões para investigação futura.

The Third Sector integrates heterogeneous realities and it is comprised of a diverse set of organizations: associations, cooperatives, mutual societies, foundations and others. These organizations have developed from diverse forms, from country to country and from region to region. The specific characteristics of Third Sector’s organizations give them an important role in regulation of the labor market. Organizations of the Third Sector in Portugal are presented as important employers and providers of services, which are essential to the social cohesion and to the well-being of communities. These organizations play a central role to local development, because they help in creating revenue and job. Therefore this study has the impact of the Third Sector in local and social development as the main focus. The empirical part will be based on the responses obtained by surveys distributed to the Associations of the Portuguese municipality of Amarante. This master dissertation is composed of five chapters: introduction, literature review, methodology, results and final considerations. In Chapter 1, it is defined the subject, it is justified the theme and the issues and the working hypotheses are exposed. In Chapter 2 a theoretical framework is provided to support the work. Chapter 3 presents and describes the methodological approach that was adopted. In Chapter 4, the results from the survey are presented, described and analyzed. Finally, in Chapter 5 the conclusions, limitations and suggestions for future research are exposed.
