This sub-corpus contains the texts published in Volker Heeschen's text collection "Die Eipo in Papua. Weltbilder, Ethnographie und Erzählungen" (Heeschen 2015). In addition to the edited versions, which are reproduced here as scans from the publication, it contains the respective original recordings. These were made by Heeschen between the early 1990s and the early 2000s during his fieldwork, which was funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, the Volkswagen Stiftung, the Vereinte Evangelische Mission and the Gereja Kristen Injil di Tanah Papua. These original reel to reel and tape recordings have been digitized within the DoBeS "Summits"-project, funded by the Volkswagen Stiftung. Mainly, this collection of texts can be seen as an attempt to complement and revise lexicon and grammar of Heeschen's former work on the Eipo language reaching back to the 1970s. In addition, new textforms are introduced and already documented textforms are complemented.
The published texts are not transcripts of the recordings. They differ siginificantly from the audio recordings, as they were written down by Heeschen on the basis of the recordings on close consultations with the speakers with a focus on capturing the main episodes of a given myth or story. For some texts no audio recordings are available. Before publication, all texts were checked line by line by Heeschen with native speakers for grammar, style and content.
