Abstract: In this dissertation we analyze two materials produced and published by the Ministry of Education of Parana, the Curriculum Guidelines for the Arts and Art Education and Basic Public Art Textbook for Secondary Education, seeking to identify if (whether or not) strategies are used or not to rank among white and black people in those publications. The hypothesis was that the aesthetics and African culture and african-Brazilian were silenced in the two publications. The silence in this dissertation was treated as a form of operation of ideology that seeks to maintain and reproduce relations of domination. To verify this hypothesis we used the method known as Depth Hermeneutics which allowed an analysis of text and images, they present the Public Art Textbook for High School. Before reviewing these publications have discussed the black presence in Paraná society arguing that this was always significant, trying to understand the process of whitening and strategies for eliminating physical and also the official history of the state. This discussion has subsidized our analysis of the two publications just confirming our hypothesis that they are few and superficial references to black people, African and Brazilian. Regarding the few images that include black men and women, we observed that operate to ratify and racist stereotypes, establishing specific areas for the black population in our society and the white population as a natural representative of the human species. Our research also confirms that still operates in our educational system that ranks a racialized thinking art and culture, and those of European origin, the most valued.
