Point Lookout, Maryland, circa 1970-1978. Caption reads: "Point Lookout, Maryland. The southernmost point of the state, where the Potomac River (right) empties into Chesapeake Bay, was the site of a prison for Confederates captured during the Civil War. Earthen works of the fort remain, and a Confederate cemetery is nearby. Now a state park, with 3 miles of sandy beach on bay and river, it is a fine sport for camping, fishing and crabbing." Postmark date: July 27, 1978; Message included.
