Date:
Nov 22, 1996
Summary:
An advertising flier promoting a concert by the punk rock bands the Warmers, the Suspects, the Shiny Brites, and Chisel. The concert occurred on November 22, 1996 at the First Congregational Church in Washington, D.C. The concert was promoted by Positive Force, an activist group with strong ties to the Washington, D.C. punk community. The concert was a benefit to raise funds to help restore the Glorious Church of God in Christ, a historically Black church in Richmond, Virginia that was burned down by an arsonist. This incident was part of a wave of arson aimed at Black churches, which led to Congress passing the Church Arson Prevention Act in 1996.
