Abstract
  • By an Arnold cell technique, the diffusion coefficients of propanol and methanol in mixtures of air and argon system have been determined. The carbon tetrachloride-air system was also studied to verify the reproducibility of the experimental method. The diffusion coefficients were compared with experimental values when available and with values evaluated from empirical equations. Comparison between the empirical and experimental data was found to be reasonably good. The diffusion coefficients were measured at 760 mm and 25° C except for the propanol-air-argon system which was measured at 45° C.
