Title: | A Global Hereford Genetic Evaluation: Making it happen! | Contributor(s): | Johnston, David (author) | Publication Date: | 2004 | Handle Link: | https://hdl.handle.net/1959.11/4101 | Abstract: | Routine production of global estimated breeding values for Hereford cattle (polled and horned) will require considerable effort from seedstock breeders, breed associations, scientists and genetic evaluation providers. The actual requirements will depend on the method chosen to deliver the new values (as outlined in the preceding paper by Graser) however there are some universal features that will be required for any of the methods to be implemented. This paper aims to briefly describe each of these features and outlines their importance in the development of a global evaluation for Hereford and Poll Hereford cattle. | Publication Type: | Conference Publication | Conference Details: | WHC 2004: 14th World Hereford Conference, Armidale, Australia, 26th - 29th March, 2004 | Source of Publication: | Proceedings of the 14th World Hereford Conference | Publisher: | World Hereford Council | Place of Publication: | Armidale, Australia | Fields of Research (FoR) 2008: | 070201 Animal Breeding | Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) 2008: | 830301 Beef Cattle | HERDC Category Description: | E2 Non-Refereed Scholarly Conference Publication | Publisher/associated links: | http://www.herefords.com/pdfs/hf9.pdf |
