Abstract: The effects of different levels of manno-oligosaccharides (MOS) on the growth performance of broiler chicken were previously studied and it was shown that a dose of 2g/kg MOS in the diet was comparable to a control diet (Zn-bacitracin), especially in the first three weeks (Yang et al., 2004). The present experiment was conducted to examine the effects of MOS on the populations of selected bacteria (i.e., lactobacilli, 'Escherichia coli', and enterococci) in the gut lumen and mucosa of young birds.
