Abstract: This paper seeks to encourage consideration of intangible resources from the perspective of small privately held firms. Using extant literature that deals primarily with issues from a large firm perspective, the paper identifies a range of potentially important issues associated with the determination and measurement of intangibles such as intellectual capital or knowledge generation, and considers the importance of such issues in dealing with small firms.
