Caritas Switzerland, with financial contribution from the Principality of Liechtenstein, has facilitated the subtitling of the film to Tajik and Russian to make it accessible to farmers, extension experts, NARS and policymakers in Tajikistan. Caritas Switzerland is also promoting the film within ongoing discussions related to the need for a national strategy on pollinators in Tajikistan, as well as to better integrate pollinator protection into country programs.

Mr. Neimatullo Safarov, Head of the Tajik Biodiversity and Biosafety Centre of the Committee for Environmental Protection, and Tajik focal point for the CBD, provides introductory remarks to a Tajik audience with a statement on the importance of protecting pollinators and enhancing pollinator populations in Tajikistan for maintaining biodiversity and improving the environment. He also mentions an initiative on conservation and sustainable use of pollinators that has been established by the CBD to which Tajikistan is a signatory and participating member. The statement is provided within both language versions - Tajik and Russian. In Tajikistan, Tajik is the official language for government correspondence as well as for everyday use, while Russian is prominent within academic and literary circles. In addition to contributing to scientific knowledge in Tajikistan, the Russian version enables access within other countries in the region of Central Asia as well as to former Soviet republics within Eastern Europe.

The original IKI-funded film had been developed in Morocco with participation of various  farmers, a beekeeper, national and international researchers, extension services and the Moroccan CBD focal point. Farming with Alternative Pollinators (FAP) is a scalable approach for pollinator protection and simultaneously for sustainable intensification. It creates many cross-cutting benefits. The film shows low-cost options for pollinator protection and is in particular valuable for countries, that have joined the Coalition of the willing on pollinators or which develop a national strategy and action plan for pollinator protection – and of course for everybody who wants to contribute to safeguarding these important species.

The film is also available in English and Arabic and we encourage other organizations to contact ICARDA for synchronization to more languages (see the email in the end of the film).
