Özet
Logistics and international trade are together plays an important role in the economy.
In order to compete internationally foreign trade and logistics plays an critical role.
The country’s geographical and strategic position is the main factor that plays an important
role on a country’s logistics sector. For this reason, countries such as Turkey, has
the potential to become an important logistics center, due to its advantageous position in
trade between different countries and regions. Logistics sector also plays an important
role in economic development and employment creation in Turkey. According to the
TUIK’s data, the number of people employed in the logistics sector which is associated
with transportation, communication and storage services, has increased recently in
Turkey. Our aim is to point out the importance of the logistics sector both on employment
and on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which also plays a crucial role to achieve
the sustainable economic growth.
