Abstract: This thesis takes on the challenge of reflecting on the transversality between art, education and politics, and launches its questions about the potential of art to act as an important tool in a broad project of social transformation. Bringing this, it will analyze the concept of Social Art problematized by classical anarchist theorists, especially within the periodical L'Art Social, one of the main aggregators of the debate at the time, in order to demonstrate the relevance of the cultural sphere in the constitution of a subversive imaginary and its potential as an incisive tool of struggle. And in a second moment, it advances to the concept of direct action education, founded in particular by the revolutionary syndicalist and anarchist Fernand Pelloutier. Finally, it brings a theoretical and practical analysis of Militant Muralism in Latin America and its current dialogue with the libertarian field, inaugurating the historical survey of muralists in this field. In this way, this research seeks to investigate: at what level do the aesthetics and practice of militant muralism act by boosting social struggles in a classist character? And how does this muralism seek to build an identity and class consciousness as sought with the provisions proposed by Social Art? Therefore, the research moves along two axes: a theoretical reading of anarchist writings and actions in relation to subversive working-class culture, and a militant ethnography that starts from a theoretical and field analysis based on the researcher's performance with militant muralism in order to delve into and build a praxis of art as a fighting tool in popular movements. Far from wanting to carry out a comparative approach and its concern to find similarities and differences, this thesis seeks to respect the singularities of each experience and historical context and bring the character of complementarity existing between the discursive dimensions of Social Art, Direct Action Education and Militant Muralism to think about a popular education that is a leaven for social struggles and cultural insubordination arising from subjects and organized collectivities
