Abstract: Protected Areas (PA) are those delimited by specific legislation whose main objective is the conservation of a natural or cultural heritage. For the present research, were taken the Conservation Units and Indigenous Lands located in the seven states of the northern region of Brazil, concluding that half of the territory of the region is subject to the specific rules of land use and occupation inherent to PAs. Thus, the main objective is to capture how the effects of the creation of the Protected Areas in the processes of mobility of the populations associated with PAs occur. The term mobility encompasses both the movement between sites associated with Protected Areas and the apprehension of different concepts and methods to address the problem. Since the main question was given in a macro-scalar context, but the answers can only be obtained by taking data obtained at the microscale, we have the multi-scalar approach, which allows a reading of the problem from different perspectives. In order to appropriate the multiscalarity, macro data were used, from national censuses, and micro data, from research already done in Conservation Units of different categories. In this way, it became possible to perceive that there are several forms of mobility associated to Protected Areas, being a phenomenon that demands an interdisciplinary treatment for its reading and understanding
