Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to investigate the marks of the initial training in the teaching practice of an educator who pursued a teaching licensure in physical education, and whose central focus of her pedagogical political project was to train educators to work in pre-, elementary and high school, with the mindset that body practices are forged in/by culture. From field research conducted at a public pre-school located in the municipality of Jundiaí, in the state of São Paulo, we sought to understand how the educator made her teaching a singular experience, from her talks, actions and writings elaborated in her lesson plans, approaching them as verbal and nonverbal utterances that compose and elaborate the senses of the class in action. The idea of experience advocated by Thompson (1981) contributed to this study with the notion that subjects are forged by cultural traditions, in the processes of appropriation and singularization of the human condition in face of the determining factors of the broader socio-historical conditions and from the specific social places they occupy in the different social spheres where they are found. Anchored in a dialogical perspective of language, stemming mainly from Vygotsky (2003, 2008) and Bakhtin (2003, 2004), this research sought to understand how movement, when signified, is transformed into gesture, and the physical education class is a privileged space for this signification. Through this perspective it was possible to identify the class in action, in a living dynamic between what the educator projects in her relation to the prescribed work and what actually happens, the real work (SCHWARTZ; DURRIVE 2007). By making use of the course material as prescribed work, the educator re-singularizes her teaching practice, not by denying what is proposed, but by understanding that the living, real context in which the class happens is multiple, and that by happening it acquires new meanings
