Abstract: The research presented here has the objective of problematizing the teacher work and pointing out its complexity, especially regarding the organization of the pedagogical work that considers the heterogeneity of the groups of students. Considering that the pedagogical organization is effective amid prescriptions for work, which present themselves in different dimensions, it proposes to investigate the work of three Elementary School teachers and their re-elaborations for the realization of effective work with students who have different knowledge in the same classroom. According the theoretical framework of Historical Cultural Psychology (Vigotski, 2009; 2010), which conceives the development in a dialectical movement between the subject, history and culture, and relying on theoretical contributions from Clinic of Activity (CLOT, 2006; 2010) and Machado (2004), among other authors, for the dialogue about the concept of "teaching as work", we focus on the particularities of historically invisible teaching work. The construction of the empirical data was based on records about the work of the teacher-researcher and two other teachers from the same school and grade. The data are composed of: narratives - provided by the teachers participating in the research and also written by the teacher-researcher - records of pedagogical meetings, interviews, conversations or reports, recorded in a field diary and / or recorded audio and later transcribed. Such data are compared with the prescriptions for work existing in this context, which we understand, from the contribution of Barricelli (2012), to be inserted in four different dimensions: descending, ascending, increasing and self-prescription. In the analysis of the data, we observed the work of the teachers in development, with emphasis on the axes: (i) between the prescribed and the performed work: the adjustments and material (re)elaborations; (ii) strategies and restructuring corresponding to the ways of acting; (iii) the working conditions and their reverberations for the pedagogical performance and (iv) the collective action. The results reveal the importance of strengthening work groups in schools, supporting the action of rework prescriptions by teachers, considering their real contexts and the students' learning needs
